『解析教程』 日本語版への序
本書の英語版が初めて世に出たのは1995年のことでした。
そうこうするうち、この日本語版や英語版の改訂第2刷のおかげで、
ミスプリントや間違いがいくつか見つかり、文章も多くの場所で改善されました。
特に、3次方程式のタルターリアの解にもっと幾何的な(元のものにより近い)解説を与え、包絡線の扱いを改良し、多重積分の変換公式のより完全な証明を与えました。
私たちは、間違いを見つけ、可能な改良をして助けてくれた多くの学生や同僚、特にR.B.バーケルとJ.-L.ガウディンに感謝します。
もちろん、蟹江幸博教授に、この本の素敵な翻訳と、また更に間違いを見つけたり、演習問題とその解答について多くの注意をしてくださったことに、特別な感謝をするものです。
この日本語版は1998年、つまりオイラーの『入門』の出版からちょうど250年という素晴らしい年に、出版されるだろうと聞かされていました。
この翻訳が少し早く仕上がるようなら、本書は1997年のうちにも出版されるでしょう。ラグランジュの『解析関数論』の出版の200周年を祝って。

This book has first appeared in 1995 in English language. In the mean time, several misprints and errors have been discovered and the text has been improved in many places for this Japanese translation and also for the second revised printing of the English edition.
In particular, we give a more geometric (and closer to the original) exposition of Tartaglia's solution of the cubic equation, improve the treatment of envelopes, and give a more complete proof of the transformation formula of multiple integrals.
We are grateful to many students and colleagues who have helped us to discover errors and possible improvements, in particular R.B. Burckel and J.-L. Gaudin.
Special thanks go, of course, to Professor Yukihiro Kanie, for his wonderful translation of the book, and also for finding additional errors and giving many remarks for improving the exercises and their solutions.
This book is scheduled to appear in 1998, precisely 250 years after the publication of Euler's Introductio, a marvellous date.
If Professor Kanie had worked a little faster with his translation, the book could have appeared already in 1997, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the publication of Lagrange's Fonctions analytiques.
